Toxicity of Magnesium
Excess of magnesium in the plasma causes hypermagnesemia.

Causes

Retention of magnesium occurs when there is scanty flow of urine due to kidney disease.

Signs and symptoms

Clinical manifestations of intoxication of magnesium are drowsiness-when the serum level is four mmol/litre and stupor and coma - when the serum level is 7mmol/litre.
