| The yearning for shining and beautiful hair is no
longer confined to females - it now cuts across the gender. But maintaining your hair is not
an easy job. You may find this hard to believe, but on an average, human scalp has about
1,00,000 strands of hair. Each arises from a follicle, which lies beneath the skin
surface. Its expanded end is called the bulb, where from the hair shaft grows. Your
hair grows at a natural pace,0.35-mm per day; or roughly, half an inch a month.
The growth is not continuous. After growing for two to six years, the scalp hair generally
enters into a resting phase. This is the stage when they tend to fall while combing or
washing. However, this period of rest is short, lasting for about a few months. Soon the
hair starts to grow again.
In some people the growing phase just goes on and on for about twenty-five years or
more! But this is just a normal phenomenon, a gift from Mother Nature, and not a miracle
of the hair-care industry. |
